Honkon Daikessen) is the theatrical film adaptation of the Super Sentai series' Juken Sentai Gekiranger television tokusatsu drama. Like all Heisei era Super Sentai films, Nei-Nei! Hō-Hō! This chain of events forces the Gekirangers to team up with their Akugata rivals to battle the Mechung Fu users in Hong Kong and save the world. This film introduces the RinBeasts and GekiRinTohja.
May 17 Dissidia: Final FantasyDissidia: Final Fantasy (ディシディア ファイナルファンタジー Dishidia Fainaru Fantajī) is an action game currently in development by Square Enix for the Playstation Portable as part of the campaign of the Final Fantasy series 20th anniversary. Complete information on the game is set to be released during the "Square Enix Party" event of May 2007. It is unknown if the game will be released outside of Japan, although the trademark Dissidia was registered by Square Enix in North America on April 6, 2007. Dissidia: Final Fantasy's genre has been described as "dramatic progressive action" and its graphics will be in three dimensions. The game will reunite characters from other installments of the Final Fantasy series, including a Warrior of Light and Garland from the first game, Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII, and Zidane Tribal and Kuja from Final Fantasy IX. Chaos will make an appearance as the god of darkness, while a new character, Cosmos, will appear as the goddess of light. Recent scans released in Japanese magazines have stated that the game will have a storyline that requires playing through all of the characters to complete. The game will have wireless, though only one-on-one gameplay will be available. There will be a minimum of ten main characters (Not including their villain counterparts) including the aboved mentioned. Hidden characters may be possible. Characters can gain customizational equipment. Tetsuya Nomura is responsible for the character designs. Dissidia was introduced in an American trademark on April 6, 2007, where relation to Final Fantasy was omitted. Some sites speculated this was an edition of Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy XIII. The title was connected with Final Fantasy when Square Enix introduced Dissidia: Final Fantasy on May 9, 2007 with an official Japanese website. May 02 Kula Diamond (King of Fighters 2000)Kula Diamond's origins (birthplace, parents, early life, etc.) are shrouded in obscurity. What is known, however, is that she was taken in by the NESTS cartel at a very young age, as one of the primary subjects of the Kyo Kusanagi cloning process, which started with K' and Krizalid. During the Krizalid project, NESTS aimed to create a perfect Kyo Kusanagi clone. K' was the project's imperfect prototype; he needed a red gauntlet in order to control the Kusanagi flames inside his body. Krizalid was a near-perfect clone. NESTS was taken aback when K' rebelled and defeated Krizalid, so the group targeted K' for extermination. To this end, NESTS worked to complete the Anti-K' subject, which turned out to be Kula Diamond. This Anti-K' possessed the same design as K', with DNA altered so that its wielder used ice powers instead. Despite the fact that their subject was a mindless puppet with no sign of emotions (aside from being an innocent young girl), the NESTS cartel was not willing to repeat the same mistake they made with K'. Therefore, NESTS created an android called Candy Diamond, who would monitor Kula's behavior and assure that Kula would accomplish her missions, providing assistance in battle if she was needed. NESTS also assigned two of their top agents (Diana and Foxy) to supervise Kula from the sidelines, and to prevent any sort of betrayal by Kula herself. As time passed by, however, Kula slowly developed a feeling of friendship towards Candy, Diana, and Foxy, contrary to the purpose she was created for. Even though Kula's mission was to originally eliminate K', NESTS could not allow clone Zero to gain control of Zero Cannon, and was forced to change Kula's directives into stopping the clone Zero instead. Kula was sent into the stratosphere to destroy the Zero Cannon, while Diana and Foxy went to Southtown to stop Zero. After K' defeated Zero, Kula was given the signal to manually fire the Zero Cannon onto Zero's hideout in Southtown. Kula's actions triggered not only one shot but several shots towards Southtown (thus, putting the scenario for the several endings that occurred in KOF 2000 when prior shots were also fired once the original shot was fired). The original shot not only leveled the Zero clone's hideout, but also took the rest of the city of Southtown with it (this was actually considered to be NESTS' original purpose, in order to eliminate all possible evidence that may incriminate the NESTS cartel). However, Kula still had to destroy the Zero Cannon herself, in order to avoid it being used for the wrong purpose again. Kula succeeded in destroying the Zero Cannon, but by doing so, it prompted her to plummet down to the Earth in a free fall to her inevitable death. However, Candy Diamond, in an unusual display of courage and self-sacrifice (especially for an android), embraced Kula during her re-entry into the atmosphere. When Kula regained consciousness, she found herself in the ruins of Southtown along with Diana and Foxy. She also found the remains of what used to be Candy, who suffered extensive damage in order to save Kula from burning up during the re-entry, and the subsequent crash into the ground. Candy's last word was "friend". Kula finally understood the true meaning of friendship as she embraced Candy's discarded head. The rest of the Zero Cannons were deactivated shortly after. One year after the events in Southtown, NESTS once again retook their original purpose to eliminate K', who had now been very active in raiding several NESTS hideouts and destroying them. The NESTS cartel deemed that K's extermination was long overdue, and thus assigned Kula to fulfill her original mission. This time, however, she would have more company. Foxy was comisssioned to enter the tournament with her, along with two new agents: the 'femme fatale' Angel, and the newest Kyo Kusanagi clone, K9999. During the tournament, Kula and her cohorts received orders from NESTS to lead K' and his companions into a blimp that would take them directly to NESTS' main headquarters in outer space. They succeeded, as Foxy and Kula watched the blimp being blasted into space from a cliff overlooking the ocean. However, Kula was taken aback when K9999 stabbed Foxy in the back with his morphing arm, severely injuring her. K9999 and Angel apparently had a side mission to take care of Kula and her closer relatives to prevent them from ever rising against NESTS. Kula, in utter sadness and despair, had to fight off both K9999 and Angel. Meanwhile, after the fight with Igniz, NESTS space station with K' and his companions on board began to plummet through Earth's atmosphere. The building heat seemed to guarantee death, but Kula released all of her ice powers, allowing them to endure the passage through the atmosphere. The severe effort caused her to nearly faint, but as she was sinking into the ocean K' saw her and saved her. Kula then finally made her peace with K', as well as gaining some new friends (more importantly, Whip). After she was saved and NESTS fell, Diana and Foxy took Kula into custody and hid her to avoid any possible legal action from the world governments due to her involvement with NESTS. In the K' Team ending of KOF 2003, she made a small cameo when Whip spoke to Diana on the phone, hinting on her possible comeback in The King of Fighters XI, which eventually did occur when she teamed up along with K' and Maxima. May 01 "Final Fantasy VII: On the way to a smile"On the Way to a Smile is a small series of stories taking place between the time of Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. Written by Kazushige Nojima, half of this novella (Case of Denzel) was released in episodes on the official Japanese Advent Children website, while the novella was released in its entirety in V-Jump's Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Prologue book. Case of DenzelThese four chapters are told indirectly through the perspective of Denzel, the young orphan featured in Advent Children. Johnny, the bumbling regular of Tifa's 7th Heaven bar from the original game, has opened up his own bar in the newly built city of Edge. One day Denzel shows up in Johnny's store to have a private meeting with Reeve Tuesti. He has requested an interview with him in the hopes that he may become part of Reeve's new World Restoration Order, an army devoted to rebuilding the planet. Denzel then goes on to tell his life story, including how he became an orphan, the events leading up to his becoming afflicted with Geostigma, and how he came into the care of Tifa and Cloud. He also offers a firsthand account of the events of that fateful day when the Lifestream emerged to save the planet from Meteor. Case of TifaThis half of the novella consists of Tifa's account of the events following Meteor's destruction, overlapping in part with Denzel's story. This half of On the Way to a Smile helps to uncover some of the mysteries surrounding the beginning of the movie, including identifying its setting and offering further insight into Cloud and Tifa's respective feelings for themselves and one another. Case of BarretReleased with the North American limited edition box set of Advent Children was a third On the Way to a Smile Story. It involves Barret and his struggle with having a weapon for an arm, and trying to find a new energy source for the people of the world. Yuna is a summoner of Yevon and has the ability to summon powerful creatures known as "aeons". She is mild in demeanor and soft-spoken, but harbors no doubt in herself or in her mission to destroy Sin, and usually manages to conceal any feelings of sadness from others. She is also half-Al Bhed on her mother's side, and consequently has heterochromatic irises: one blue and one green. (Note the characteristic eyes of the Al Bhed: green eyes with spiral pupils, as displayed by Yuna's cousin Rikku.) As a summoner, Yuna travels across Spira to end the threat the malevolent force Sin poses to her world, aided by her aeons, and even more so by her guardians, whose duty it is to protect her along her journey. Yuna begins her pilgrimage across Spira with three guardians: Kimahri Ronso, who took care of her after she was orphaned; Lulu, who treats her as a younger sister; and Wakka, with whom — along with Lulu — she has been close friends since childhood. After Tidus arrives in Besaid, she takes him as her fourth guardian, and later, Auron — who was also guardian to her father — becomes her fifth. Finally, Yuna's maternal cousin Rikku becomes Yuna's sixth and final guardian shortly after Tidus and Wakka thwart her attempt to kidnap Yuna with an underwater machina. During the course of the game, Yuna is forced to grow in character. She becomes battle-hardened and her Yevonite beliefs are shaken and eventually shattered. Furthermore, her ever-growing relationship with Tidus causes her to question her quest, and think more for herself. This is evident when she is composing the video sphere she intends for her friends and guardians to view after her death- she confesses that the thought of not being with Tidus scares her. As she learns more about Sin — against whom she has trained in the summoners' arts to use the Final Summoning — Yuna becomes caught up in the plot of Maester Seymour Guado, who claims to want to unite Spira by marrying her, but who seeks to use her to become the next Sin and destroy Spira. Yuna had planned to marry him in exchange for him turning himself over to Yevon's judgement- the plan fails and Yuna and her guardians, recently informed of Seymour's crime, fight and kill him. She is later kidnapped and brought to Bevelle, where her guardians launch a rescue attempt that ends in their capture. When she discovers that the Church of Yevon uses machina, violating its own teachings, and that it has no intentions of allowing her to send Seymour despite his evil, her faith in Yevon is shattered. When Tidus eventually learns the full implication of the Final Summoning — that Yuna will sacrifice herself, as her father did, in order to bring about a temporary period free of Sin (called "the Calm") — his perspective persuades her that they can find another, more permanent way to rid Spira of the threat of Sin. Tidus and Yuna's mutual love for one another intensifies as the party approaches its destination. In the romantic setting of a sphere pool, Tidus shares memories of his native Zanarkand and toys with the idea of showing Yuna his home (even though it is becoming clear that he can never return). Yuna realizes she will never live to see it, and the burden she has been carrying in silence for so long finally causes her to break down, and she starts crying uncontrollably. Tidus moves to comfort her, and in their despair they kiss. In the morning, Yuna has little choice but to proceed with her pilgrimage. But when the quest draws to a close, Yuna is shocked to discover she must sacrifice one of her guardians to provide the soul for the Final Aeon, and that as the Final Aeon will become Sin, the Final Summoning can never defeat it. With Tidus's encouragement, she decides to break Yevon's endless cycle and find another way to defeat Sin, one which will not provide it with the means to rise again. This eventually leads to a confrontation with Sin and the true progenitor of Spira's sorrows, Yu YevonYuna's group defeats Braska's Final Aeon, whose fayth is Tidus's father Jecht, and after defeating Yuna's aeons as Yu Yevon possesses them, defeats Yu Yevon himself. However, as a consequence of defeating Yu Yevon and ridding the world of Sin, Tidus broke Yu Yevon's hold on the fayth, resulting in Tidus vanishing into nothingness as the fayth wake up. Before he leaves for the Farplane, Yuna tells him she loves him (in the Japanese version of the game, she says "Thank you" instead, basically thanking Tidus for protecting, supporting, and loving her). In Final Fantasy X International, an extra scene called "Eternal Calm" recounts Yuna's thoughts two years later as she tries to return to her normal life back in Besaid. Being the high summoner who permanently defeated Sin, she has constantly been plagued by visitors and tourists ever since, and more than once has even been asked by the elders of her town that she should be considering marriage and settling down. As Yuna contemplates the changing Spira and her role in it, Rikku comes to visit, and shows her a sphere Kimhari found that she believes shows Tidus. Feeling that she deserves an adventure of her own, Yuna literally ran off with her cousin without a word, fuelled by hope that she may know more regarding Tidus.
April 01 "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya"
The story of Haruhi Suzumiya initially appeared in The Sneaker, a seinen novel magazine by the Japanese publishing company Kadokawa Shoten. Since then, the story has spanned a range of media, all based on the earlier novels. Two separate manga series were created, though the first was discontinued shortly after production began. The second is still currently running in Japan. The anime adaptation, produced by Kyoto Animation, shares the first novel's plotline, interspersed with self-contained episodes (with the exception of the two-part Remote Island Syndrome) taken from short stories from later on in the novel series. The first of the fourteen episode series premiered in Japan on April 2, 2006. Notably, these episodes were not originally broadcast in chronological order. There has been news about a possible second season to the anime series set for a fall 2007 release. Soon after the show aired, Kadokawa Shoten received various offers from companies in regards to licensing the anime, manga, and novels. On December 22, 2006, the website asosbrigade.com revealed that the anime version of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya was licensed for North American distribution by Kadokawa Pictures USA, who sublicensed production and distribution to Bandai Entertainment. The first DVD is slated to be released on May 29, 2007. The latest incarnation of the Haruhi Suzumiya series is a series of radio dramas based on the anime version. The first volume was released on July 5, 2006 by Lantis with the second volume having been released on September 21, 2006. A drama CD was released on January 24, 2007. |
